Welcome to Fethiye – The city of Telmessos

Fethiye is a popular holiday destination for British.Fethiye is situated in southwestern of Turkey in the Mediterranean region on the Turquoise Coast. It's is well known by it's natural harbour, blue waters and numerous rock tombs. The tombs are remainders from the ancient Lycian city of Telmessos, which was the most important city of Lycia. The history of this city started in the 5 city makes you want to make a boat trip and see everything what this city can offer you.
Sightseeing
There are so many things to see in this beautiful city, you can taste the history in the air. The tomb of Amyntas is a must to see. It's built by the Lycians in 350 BC and it's known by the big size and the carvings. There are other historical sites you can visit like: Kadyanda Ancient City, Kayakoy-old Greek town. You can also visit The Fethiye Museum, which is a rich museum. You'll find ancient artifacts, starting with the Lycians.
Shopping
Even thoug, it is one of the most popular tourist places in Turkey, they didn't adapt to the tourist. They kept their local shops and markets. You can find anything you want : gold, carpets,food,....etc. They kept their traditional ways of shopping and you will find tiny, cute shops.

Public transportation
The cheapest way to travel through Fethiye is by using the bus. They also use the Dolmus, which is already popular in bigger cities. There are water taxi's which would be a great experience. Because Fethiye has a natural harbour, the water is most of time calm, so you can take your water taxi easily.
