Gerone, famous historic city
Gerone is a city which is in the North East of Spain on the Costa Brava, in an area surrouded by the mountains and pin trees, in addition there are lots of landscape to see.
It is the capital of Province, a town with 95000 inhabitants. Furthermore this town was built during the Roman period. The oldest quarter is situated in front of the city walls, most of the houses were built in the 19 century however a part of the city was destroyed by the French in 1807 during the civil war.
The city is easy to explore on foot because it is not so big. There is a historic center where there is a building dating to the 19 century, this area is famous under the name of The Archeologic Walk.
In addition, neighbourhoods are different according to the area, we can visite the arabic bath, the cathedral also the museum and lastly the old jewish quarter.

Sightseeing
The church: famous for the gothic style or baroque style, for example Sante Pere de Galligants church or Sainta Maria cathedral.
The museum: the art museum is the oldest one, it has some important pieces of art including scultpures, painting, and religious object dating to the 9th century to the 20th century.
The arabic bath: Baths and sauna from the 12th century have been carefully restored
The old jewish quarter: the bonastrue ca porta centre is the old quarter where the jewish people were forced to live in Ghettos conditions, the centre shows their history and explains how they were forced to leave Gerone and move to the ghetto in the 15th century.
Shopping
There are several types of shops like souvenir shops as well as clothing shops, these are all located in La Rambla de la Libertad.
Natural local products such as the Escala anchous, urnes from D.O Emporda in the Costa Brava. Also, look out for ceramics from La Bisbal.

There are two kinds of restaurant.
The first one is creative mediterranean cuisine: El seller de Can Roca. The second one is more traditional cuisine: Mar Placa
Climate
Gerone is situated on the East cost so the water of the mediterranen sea is lukewarm.The temperatures in the mountains are always lower than in the lowlands. In winter it sometimes freezes everywhere except on the coast. This is a continental climate, monthly temperatures range from 13°C to 17°C degrees.
