Alicante - The city of sun and wonderful beaches

Not only a city on the Costa Blanca, but also a famous port for the Mediterranean Sea situated in the south of the Valencian Community.

Sightseeing
The central Santa Barbara Castle is a medieval fortress. This important landmark of the city is located on the top of Mount Benacantil from where it offers panoramic views of the city.
Its harbour is well known as it is one of the most important ports in Spain for cruises.
You can also admire the Gothic style of the Basilica of Santa Maria.
But the emblem of this city is the Explanada de España, lined by palm trees whose floor is decorated with tricolour marble which creates waves. It is the perfect place for a nice walk on a sunny and warm day.

Alicante has some of the best night-life in Spain. The city offers a wide selection of entertainment, from nightclubs and pubs to bars which can satisfy all tastes.
El Puerto is especially known for its great lively night-life and attracts tourists and locals who want to enjoy and have fun.
The chiringuitos, the Spanish name for kiosks, on the Postiguet and San Juan beaches host some of the best parties during the summer.
El Barrio is known for its fantastic night-life and narrow lanes, which are filled with a wide range of bars, whereas the area of Esplanada is more popular during the summers, but also caters for a range of musical tastes.
Shopping
The shopping in Alicante is first class.
The traditional shopping area of the city is Rambla de Méndez Núñez, a vibrant street that offers a good choice of shops as well as an overview on Alicante life.
