It has a population of 119,664 inhabitants and is split in half by the Meuse a major river claimed as the oldest river in the world. Maastricht is a very popular tourist destination which contains some magnificent buildings and culture, taking the form of plenty of old houses and buildings, lovely cathedrals and a spectacularly cobblestoned town centreand.
