Ancona is situated in the middle of Italy, in the east coast in front of the Adriatic sea. It is only 2 hours seperated from Bologna and 3 hours from Rome. The best period to visit this city is in spring/summer, when you can enjoy the amazing sun along the famous beach of Portonovo.
Something really special about this city is that it is the only one in Italy where you can enjoy both the view of sunrise and sunset over the sea, thanks to its unique elbow position on the Adriatic.
Ancona has an important cruise port which is close to the historic center. The port area can be very busy because of the ferry connections with Croatia and Greece.
