Ouistreham- the seaside resort

Ouistreham is a municipality located in the South-West of France, in the Calvados department. In the past, the town served as a guardroom to ensure security in the region. Over time, Ouistreham became the seaside resort of Riva Bella.
Sightseeing
If you come to Ouistreham, you should pay a visit to the Saint-Samson Church. On the facade of the church, many characteristics of the Norman style are still visible. Inside, there are interesting statues and furniture, but also two church windows commemorating the liberation of the city at the end of the Second World War.
Then you can walk in the city centre and admire the different types of houses. The fishermen's houses are the oldest ones. Then they are houses composed of a shop on the ground floor, and a dwelling on the second floor. And you can also see farm buildings and mansions.
Afterwards, you can go to see the town hall. Built near the church in 1875, the town hall served in the past as a school for boys. But due to the damage caused by the Second World War, a new school was built and since that time, the building has been occupied by the municipal services.
Finally, you can pay a visit to the Grange aux Dimes, in the North-east of the church. It is part of the beautiful rural buildings and it has been recently restored. Its architecture, which looks like English barns of the XVI century, reveals the prominence of the Franco-British trade.
Of course, if you want to relax, you can also go to the beach or walk around the harbour.
