Welcome to "Punta Cana" - The city of "crystal-clear water and sandy beaches"

Punta Cana-Bavaro-Veron-Macao municipal district is situated on the east coast of the Dominican Republic in La Altagracia province. Christoph Columbus discovered this island, which both face Atlantic and Caribbean, on 1492. The city has a long history, his blue and red flag with a white cross, refers to the war of independence against Haiti, whose victory is celebrated every 27th of February. Thus, 73% of the population is mixed, 16% is white (settled from USA, Canada and Europe), 11% is black and there are also Japanese and German towns. Punta Cana is the most popular travel destination in Caribbean, with a length of 50 kilometres, coconut palm trees, white sand as far as the eye can reach and the warm turquoise blue sea. In the country, construction of new hotels and resorts have grown since 1970, and nowadays 30,000 hotel rooms spread across 40 kilometres of land on several areas : Cap Cana, Punta Cana, Cabeza de Toro, Bavaro, El Cortecito, Arena Gorda, Macao and Uvero Alto.

Night life
Many place are there to help you spend your night time as is should. You can try restaurant as Mamma Luisa with Italian meat, El Defin with local meat composed with taste fish, chicken, rices or beans, Jalapeno which provided mexican food, le Four a Pain a french coffee at Plaza Bolera, and many other local coffee. Then, you can try some night clubs : Mangu Disco, Oro night, Alibabar Hookah Lounge, Melia Caribe Tropical Lobby bar. All proposed you special night with Latin music to dance Merengue, Bachata, Salsa or Reggae. Finally you can try the Casino.
Shopping
Shopping plaza are specially installed in resort complex to allow population and tourist to buy what they need in variety of shop along the beach front. Plaza Punta Cana is an open air area consisting of many small shops where you can buy local souvenirs, hand-rolled cigars and rum. It is open every day from 9 am to 7 pm. You can also visit a typical Dominican grocery shop to get some refreshment, during the dune buggy (All purchases are with Dominican pesos).
Sightseeing
The time to indulge yourself at all pleasure make a choice between uncountable activities. In the Catamaran Cruise to Saona Island you will enjoy a trip on the ocean with music entertainment. BBQ lunch and beverages are also provided to help you spend an amazing day at the Saona Island. The Dune Buggy Adventure offered a half adventure trip with a dune buggy on beaches, across farmland, plantations, and road. Also, sail along the coastline, snorkelling to see sharks and rays in their natural habit, snow on board are activities proposed in several places as TheTropical Storm Bavaro Cruise, Marinarium Shark and Experience or during the Carribean Festival Snorkel Cruise, with the possibility to fish Marlin, Barracuda and Dorado. Feel like Tarzan, soaring platform through platform in the forest. Observe the different bird, plant, insects species near fresh water lagoons and visit a farm-animal petting zoo.
Next to Punta Cana, swimming with lovely dolphins, quad driving or a bike tour with friend are offered in Bavaro and Uvero.
And it's not over, end your days with a drive with your own speed boat to a snorkelling platform, or have a country adventure Safari. This last adventure includes the visit of a cigar museum, a typical Dominican lunch at a typical house, and horseback riding.

General information
Most of today’s resorts and hotels are located in Cabeza de Toro, Bavaro, Cortecito, Arena Gorda, Macao and Uvero Alto.
There is a religion, catholic mixed with African elements called “Brujeria” that means witchcraft or are also named “las 21 Divisiones” (not to be mistaken for Haitian Voodoo) but most of the population is Roman Catholic.
Spanish is the official language of the Dominican Republic and English and many other languages are spoken in common place.
