Welcome to Arezzo - The city of Middle Age, Sarace Joust and Truffles
Arezzo is a city in Central Italy, located in Tuscany. It is certain that is a city very antique. It has been an important Etruscan centre and later considered a strategic place by the Romans, because it was situated in Via Cassia. It was governed by Medici dynasty and later by Lorena dynasty. After several reclamations the well-being was favoured and the growth of the population. Thanks to the different civilizations that dominated Arezzo, this has many monuments, churches and museums. The city still has the Medici Fortress, that was built in 1538, and Piazza Grande, one of the most important squares in Italy known for its strange geometry and different styles.

You can start your happy hour in the city centre, where there are many places you can go to such as Cattive Abitudini, La vita è bella and Il Caffè dei Costanti, or you can drink a good wine in La terra di Piero and La vineria 10. After this, you can go to eat the typical Tuscan dishes, such as “tagliata” or truffles which are a speciality, in many restaurants such as Ciao, Pappa e Cena, Cio’ che Piace, Le Chiavi D’oro and La Torre di Gnicche. After dinner you can go to the pubs: Mr. Bloom and B17. You can finish your evening, choosing between two clubs: Sugar Reef Musicology and Grace Club.
Arezzo is a very small city, but it has many fashion boutiques, where you can find the luxury brands such as Gucci, Armani, Dolce e Gabbana. There are many small shops with local products and big brands. In the city centre you can find big shopping chains such as Zara and Ovs. Moreover, Arezzo is one of the most important cities of Italy known for the gold production, so if you can find jewellery stores and factories of gold you are in the right place!
There are many monuments, museums and places that can be visited: Roman Amphitheater, it was built in the 1st century with blocks of sandstone, bricks and marble and it contained about 8,000 spectators. Then you can go to the Petrarca’s House which was built in the 16th century on the remains of a medieval building and now it houses the Petrarca Academy of Letters, Arts and Sciences. Another place very striking is the Medici Fortress, it's located at the top of the hill and it offers a wonderful view. Afterwards you can carry on to Palazzo dei Priori, where you can find paintings by Giorgio Vasari. You should visit, the Piazza Grande or Piazza Vasari, it is the oldest square of the city and it is very famous all over the world due to the film "Life is beautiful" of Roberto Beningni; it is the scenario of the Saracen Joust too. There are many churches that you can admire like Cathedrals, where you can see the chapel of Madonna del Conforto, Basilica of San francesco and Pieve of Santa Maria, Cherch of Santa Maria delle Grazie and Church of San Domenico. You can also go to the Vasari’s House and Museum of Medieval and Modern Art. You should visit the city in June or September, because you can attend famous medieval festivals such as: Sarace Joust (Giostra del Saracino).

Climate is characterized by relatively high temperatures and evenly distributed precipitation. The city has a high temperature in summer and low in winter. In August, when the temperature is very hot, you can go to the surrounding areas to find a little bit of a movement of air.
The city centre of Arezzo is very beautiful to visit by foot, because, only in this way, you can admire the beauty of medieval buildings. Furthermore, all attractions to visit are close together. You can find an efficient bus network, ATAM, which carries in the surroundings hills and villages. The main bus stops are Piazza Guido Monaco and Station Square.
