Ajaccio
Ajaccio (Aiacciu), is the capital of southern Corsica (the capital of northern Corsica is Bastia).The city is situated on the west coast of Corsica and it is sorrounded by the Mediterranean Sea. The town itself lies on the north shore of the gulf between the Gravona and la pointe de la Parata (the tip of the Parata) including the Sanguinaires islands. The area offers many beaches and coves along its western territory.
The Ajaccio port has a daily connection to the French mainlands, such as Marseille, Toulon and Nice.There are also occasional liaisons to Italy or Sardinia. Ajaccio has also become a significant stopover cruise (418 086 passengers).
Ajaccio has a Mediterranean climate. The average annual sunshine is 2737 hours.The drought and heat of summer are tempered by the proximity of the sea, except when the sirocco blows. In autumn and spring, violent rainstorms may occur. In winter snow is quite rare.

1/ Archipelago des Sanguinaires,
Archipelago des Sanguinaires,15km from the city by boat but just off the headland at Pointe de la Parata. The tour takes a few hours but it`s worth it. Best visited for the sunset, the islands are a designated reserve for seabirds and other wildlife and they have a fascinating and diverse habitats with many plant species not found on the Corsican mainland.
2/ The Route des Sanguinaires
The Route des Sanguinaires along the south coast of the city, after St. Francis Beach . It is lined with beautiful villas, beaches and coves. On the edge of the road there is the cemetery of Ajaccio, where you can find the tomb of Tino Rossi, the famous singer.
